KEIRA

MY BELLY HURTS as I bend myself, clutching it. Air runs out of me and I struggle to fill my lungs. I fight to get any amount of oxygen into my veins as my shoulders shake. My entire body quivers as my hair covers my face and I slam my eyelids shut.

I don’t think I’ve ever laughed this much. And hell, I’m with Dominic.

He’s, like, the most stoic person I’ve ever met, no competition. How in the world can I have so much fun with him?

He lifts a cleaning cloth and wipes it over his mouth, where I ran sour cream over his lip to create a Santa mustache.

“You’re wasting perfectly good sour cream on makeup, love,” he tells me as I straighten my back and finally catch my breath.

For such a serious person, he’s patient. He never complains or insults my jokes and teases. That’s a sign this man truly wants me.

“You looked good somehow,” I tell him, pausing my hands to my hips. “You always look good.”

A side of his lip tilts up. “Thank you. But you don’t need to compliment me after every joke of yours. I can take it.”

“I know you can.” I approach the counter where he’s filling our tacos. “These look great.”

He winks. “You’ll love them, I’m sure.”

Dominic’s slowly opening up for me. We’ve been seeing each other for a week, almost every day of it, and I can see him getting comfortable with me. Putting his guard down.

He’s amazing, and I’m lucky he’s looked my way. We have fun together, and we talk for hours upon hours, and it’s like we’ve known each other forever. Like we’ve been together for years.

Two souls meeting, if you believe in such things.

I’m looking at his handsome face, swooning and distracted when he runs his finger down my nose. The tip leaves a wet trail behind.

I jump back, going cross-eyed to discern what’s happened. “Ew!” I cry out, laughing all over again when I touch my nose to find sour cream down the bridge.

“Never said I wasn’t a man up for revenge,” he says with a smile. “Here, let me clean up.”

I thought he was going for the cleaning cloth. Instead, Dominic bends and licks my nose.

I crack up. “Who the hell are you and what have you done to cranky Dominic?”

His chuckle is soft. “It’s all your fault.”

“Is it?” My hand wipes across my face, ridding me of the cream. My fingers curling around the edge of the counter, I stand on the tips of my toes to press a kiss to his jaw. “Why?”

He turns and presses another kiss to my lips. Dominic’s eyes are gentle as he gazes at me. “I don’t know. You make me feel different.”

“Different good?”

He abandons the tacos and turns to me, running his hands around my hips and bringing me closer. “Different amazing.” A tiny smile plays on his lips. “Nothing is better than having you with me.”

“Oh, how romantic.”

He nods, brushing his nose up and down my cheek.
